Aussie News 26: Eighteen die while mushroom picking in Italy

In Italy, eighteen people were killed by falling into rocky crevasses and gorges while mushroom picking. The authorities claimed that an early and bountiful mushroom harvest in the Alphine valleys of northern Italy is attracting more people than usual, but most of them are not fully equipped. Seven of the deaths occurred in the Lombardy region, while the others happened in Piedmont and Trentino-Alto Adige. Recently, a 65-year-old woman were killed after falling down a steep rocky slope in a forest near the town of Sondrio.
